In September 2019 the Swiss National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste (NAGRA) commisioned Gesteinslabor with UCS, Brazilian and triaxial tests on neighbouring rocks of the Opalinus Clay - the rock which will host Switzerland's future facilities for nuclear waste disposal.
So far, stress-strain tests have been done on three different deep bore holes. The test results of the strength tests carried out at Gesteinslabor for the borehole Bülach are now published on the NAGRA website:
Results from the borehole Trülikon will be published soon. At the moment, Gesteinslabor is working on strength tests for the fourth deep borehole Bözberg.
